How to grow a Christmas tree?
Christmas trees use seeds to reproduce or sprout to renew. Flowering period is from late February to mid and late March. The seeds mature in the middle and late June to early July. Seeds can be harvested when the pods change from green to dark brown. After picking the pods and spreading them out for a few days, the pods are split and seeded. The thousand-grain weight of the seed is 12.5 grams, and the germination rate is about 60-80%.
Before sowing, the seeds must be treated, mainly with boiling water, that is, put the selected seeds into a container, pour in boiling water 2-3 times the volume of the seeds, stir evenly for 1 minute, then place in cold water for 24 hours, and wait for the majority After the seeds are swollen, take them out for sowing. Sprout 7-14 days after sowing. Afforestation should be planted with seedlings of 5-7 months old.
Christmas trees are suitable for cool and humid subtropical climates, and can withstand extreme minimum temperatures generally not exceeding -7 degrees Celsius, and their cold resistance is better than black wattle and other tree species. The soil requirements are not strict, and it is suitable for deep, loose and moist acid to slightly acid loam or sandy loam, and poor growth on soil that is too sticky, dry and poorly drained. It has strong drought tolerance, but it grows better in the middle and lower slopes or valleys.
